When Hot Igloo founder, Terry Miaoulis, was diagnosed with kidney failure on Boxing Day 2003, he started designing websites to pass the long hours spent on dialysis. As the positive word-of-mouth brought more clients his way, he and journalist fiancée Amber decided to form their own company. Hot Igloo Productions Ltd.was born.
After two years of creating and growing successful sites for clients we decided to practice what we preach and begin our first revenue generating site:
In May of this year, Amber also started writing about her day to life in an online journal (That’s what blogs were called in those days) which she called…
Both sites are still online today, and form the basis of the Hot Igloo Blog Network.
By 2009, The Fashion Police had grown to the point where Amber was able to give up the freelance journalism and copywriting work she’d been doing, and concentrate fully on blogging. We decided to see if we could repeat the success we’d had with The Fashion Police, and launched ShoeperWoman.com in April 2009, concentrating on women’s shoes.
It was mostly an excuse for Amber to look at shoes all day, let’s be honest.
Amber won the Best Fashion Blogger award for The Fashion Police in the 2009 Appletiser Blog Awards.
Sadly, she did not win any Appletiser.
The Fashion Police was named Best Fashion Blog of 2009 in the Glam Network Blog Awards. This was a reader-nominated award, which made it particularly exciting for us.
In 2013, Hot Igloo moved premises to our new central Scotland location, with easy to access to both Edinburgh and Glasgow. Most of our work is still carried out online or by phone, so please don’t hesitate to contact us for a chat. We love to chat.
