bullet pointebsite Design Case Study

Of all the UK website design businesses out there, you're probably wondering why you should pick us. In fact, you may even be wondering why you even need a website in the first place: what will it do for you, and how will the whole process work?

To help you make your mind up, here's a case study of one of our clients:

The client:
Sneddon Morrison - solicitors and estate agents with offices based throughout West Lothian, Scotland.

The problem: Although a major player in the West Lothian real estate market, and a respected firm of solicitors, Sneddon Morrison had no web presence. Noticing that more and more of their clients were asking for their website address, or requesting that their properties be marketed online, the firm brought in Hot Igloo for a consultation.

The consultation:
We visited Sneddon Morrison at their Whitburn office to discuss their requirements and find out a bit more about the business. Although consultations of this kind can easily be done by phone, email or instant messenger, we like to meet our clients face to face wherever possible.

From that initial meeting we identified the following issues:

There was a real demand from clients for a website which they could search for properties and market their own properties to a much wider audience.

The website created would have to be updated frequently.

Staff at the business were short on time and not technically minded - they needed a website which they could update quickly and easily, with no technical skill required.

The site would also need to reflect the firm's other services, such as family law and conveyancing, as well as providing contact details and an introduction to the staff.

The build:
Having discussed Sneddon Morrison's requirements in depth, Hot Igloo prepared a basic design which was presented to the firm for their approval. The site build was carried out online, on a private section of the Hot Igloo webspace. This meant that the client could view the site's progress at any time, and provide feedback.

The build took approximately three weeks from start to finish.

The website:

www.sneddonmorrison.com is updated by staff at the firm using a simple content management system. Properties are added and removed on a daily basis, with changes appearing immediately.

The result:
The Sneddon Morrison website has increased in popularity over the past year, and now received almost 5,000 hits per month. The firm report a huge amount of positive feedback from clients, many of whom check the site for updates before beginning their day. Thanks to the new website, some properties are sold before they even appear in the ESPC or local newspapers, with viewings being arranged within hours of new properties being added.

The feedback:
"We had been thinking about creating our own website for some time, but had never really known how to go about it. Hot Igloo made the whole process very easy, and we have had a huge amount of very positive feedback about our site from our clients." Eric Lumsden, Senior Partner, Sneddon Morrison
